Barry,
It seems that very time I see you (or read something you post on your website) I find something new to love and admire about you. Your beautiful and insightful words really touched my heart and sparked a new understanding in me. I have lost that magical escape christmas once brought to me too and I am truly sad to no longer have it. Christmas was my favorite time of the year. I felt unstoppable and infinate; nothing could touch me, almost as if the snow and mom's hot chocolate created a protective shield around my young heart. But now I almost dread this time. Maybe it's because with age comes knowledge, and now I know how crappy people can be. (I find comfort in the fact that I am not alone in this.) We are a "GimmeMore" world and a "MeMeMe" society and I hate it. It literally pains me to see how selfish we have become. We have lost sight of what's truly important. And, until recently, I really was no exception (i am human after all). But a few years ago, a tragedy struck my family and shook us to the very core of our foundation. The only good thing that can from it, was that it was an eye opener. It showed us that life is short and we have to stop taking it for granted. It pushed me back into the arms of the Lord I had been running from and it made me realize that my family was all I really had. Friends and lovers come and go, but family is forever. My point in this whole thing is that Love is the reason for the season, and I really hope people remember that.
I am so happy to hear that you found something that brings you joy and a lil christmas spirit back. Even though I don't know you that well, I can tell you are an amazing guy that deserves the best. God bless!
